Friday Faves
Happy Friday morning! Let’s get right into the Faves, although, how did y’all feel about the Survivor finale?
1) Kelsi Dagger Dover Platform Sandals IG sucked me in again. These popped up and I was in a trance as I hit the “place order” button. I love them so much!!2) Victor’s Wood Grill Located in Coppell, it was a weekly staple when we lived there. It’s not too far away from us now, but we definitely don’t get over there as often as we’d like. This week was a blessing as we got to go twice! We went on Monday with our son Hudson, he thinks they make the best grilled chicken of anyone, and last night with our Grow Group Supper Club. My go to every time is Grilled Naked Salmon with a side of Sautéed Spinach. I love it! If I’m in the mood to share, Walt and I will split the Pork Milanese. It’s super yummy as well.
3) The Frozen River by Ariel Lawhon I gotta admit, I was dreading reading this, but my stepfather’s wife, Betsy, recommended it and specifically asked me to. It’s not my genre at all and it was SUPER long (almost 16 hours on Audible, and I try to stay around 10 or less when I can). At times it was a bit of a drudgery, and I wasn’t sure the narrator was the best choice, but I finished it and even listened to the author’s note, which I highly recommend for clarity. She was a little annoying, saying “you’re welcome” every time she explained her writing choices, but was very informative. The main character was a real person in history and she was a strong woman which may have explained the choice of narrator. All in all, I’m glad I completed it. I told Betsy that while I love her, there will have to be some time in between her recommendations 😂 I’m back to currently reading a novel by Daniel Hurst.
4) Checkered Blanket from The Styled Collection I discovered these blankets on IG of course. I bought one for me, then bought them for my daughter Hayley and my future daughter in law Corinne for Christmas of ‘22. We all love them! I haven’t been sleeping all that well lately, and this is my favorite nap blanket ever! It’s perfect! (And I have a lot of blankets.) It provides warmth, but isn’t too hot. Highly recommend! I think Amazon has some with bigger checks, and I like those a lot too, but this one is the OG for me.
I struggle how to close this post. While we “celebrate” Memorial Day and sometimes say “Happy Memorial Day”, it is not lost on me that it is a day to honor those that died for our country. Those who did not come home. While I don’t personally know anyone who did not come home, I plan on taking a moment to pause and reflect.
