Saturday Musings

I was awakened this morning to the sound of people talking outside my window.  Once my heart rate returned to normal, I remembered today was the day, the day to remove the massive Cottonwood tree from our backyard.

There it is in the in the middle of the photo.  I'm not sure why but I have been dragging my feet about the removal of this tree.  I think felt like it was going to alter the look of the backyard.  Never you mind that twice a year, every year, this tree wreaks so much havoc on my sanity!  It drops stuff everywhere and makes such a mess that it renders our backyard unusable without a LOT of clean up work.  I should be overjoyed this tree is coming down!  And, maybe I am...I'll keep an open mind.

I did finish my third book for 2018.  It's called Followed by Mark Lukens.  I randomly found this book because I just wasn't getting into my original pick, The Woman in the Window.  I NEVER put a book down because I feel like I've wasted my time up to that point, and I can't mark it down as completed if I haven't finished it.  My friend, Kamron, says there are so many books, why waste your time with one that isn't good?  Put it down!  But as a rule follower who's a little OCD, this concept is super hard for me.  So I told myself that The Woman in the Window is simply "not now".  I will most likely pick it back up in a month or two and try again.

Followed was a good read.  A super quick read.  For my avid reading friends, they could knock this book out in a couple of hours.  It's a no frills book.  Not a lot of flowery descriptions, it's basically a book capturing the characters' thoughts as they unfold during this horrible event in their lives.  Sometimes I thought it was a bit repetitive until I realized that was exactly what was going on in the character's mind as he/she was panicking!

Last week I discovered Mrs. Meyer's Honeysuckle Hand Soap.  I am obsessed with this scent, so I found the multi-purpose cleaner.  I wonder if they make this scent in other products!  Before long, I'll have them all!  And then, sadly, I'll probably get sick of the scent.  But for now, I'm thoroughly enjoying it!

As for things that make me go "Hmmmmmm...", this one tops the list for the day.  I was watching a show about Tonya Harding this morning, and her mom made this commment: "Tonya loved to say we were trailer trash.  We were never trailer trash.  We had a beautiful new trailer!"  Oh LaVona "Sandy" Golden...

I'll just leave you with one last thought today.  It is one that has taken up some mindspace for me lately:

Thanks momadvice for the reminder!  Have a great weekend everyone!
