Friday Faves

I’m enjoying the reset that January brings. I’ve set some intentions, so here we go…

1) The 52 Weeks I got this book several years ago and started the 52 weeks with my friend, Cynthia. Then, the Pandemic hit, and our challenge kinda fell to the waist side. Fast forward to an evening out with my friend Mona and in honor of her hitting a major birthday milestone this year, she decided to take on the 52 weeks challenge, and I decided to join her. You don’t necessarily have to read the book to do it, I love that the front cover says “Two Women and Their Quest to Get Unstuck”. That pretty much sums it up. We started by brainstorming things we wanted to do this year. Our lists are completely separate although a few things overlap and hopefully we do those together. In an effort to not pick and choose, we put all of our list on slips of paper in a jar. On weeks we don’t have something specifically scheduled, i.e. Girls’ Trips, Napa, etc., we draw a slip and do the thing! For me, on January 1st I scheduled Dry Weekday January (do NOT give me grief that I only did weekdays. It’s my choice and it’s something!) and on January 8th I drew this: Try an “out of my comfort zone” cuisine. So, on Tuesday night, Walt and I went to Baba Ali’s Kitchen for Indian food. Still do not love Indian food, except Samosa’s, but I’m glad we did it! I also love doing this with Mona! She almost drowned drinking 8 glasses of water a day for the first week, ha, ha, but I love being on this adventure with her, and can’t wait to see what the year of 52 brings! She’s not sure we’ll make it a whole year, but I’m determined we will!

2) Intelligent Light Y’all, I am amazed! I ordered this months ago on IG, and of course, it came from China (but I think I have found almost the same thing from Amazon). It took a couple of months to come in and I set it aside for the holidays and just set it up this week. It attaches to my bathroom cabinet with magnets and when I walk into the potty closet it lights up! It goes off 25 seconds after leaving the area. I love this!! It’s rechargeable, and I’m testing how long it will last between charges, but I plan to put it on my Sunday chore list to recharge. It may not need a weekly charge, that’s TBD. I love this!

3) Hamilton Beach Can Opener You may think, a can opener, really? YES! My other can opener broke at Thanksgiving (those green bean bundles did it in), so I had to order a new one. What I love about this can opener is that it cuts the can on the side just under the rim. My last can opener cut along the top so the lid would sometimes drop into the can. In hindsight, this does not seem too sanitary. At first I thought my new can opener wasn’t working because I couldn’t see where it was cutting the can, ha, ha! Once I figured out what was going on, I thought: this is brilliant!

4) Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk Lipstick/Pencil Duo This duo is awesome for everyday lips! Walt, you will love them! (Ha, ha!) No, seriously girls, this looks great on everyone! I do have to admit, it looks a teeny bit better on my daughter Hayley than on me, but I really like it!

Have a great weekend!
