Weekly Faves

Image
Ha, notice the name change to “Weekly Faves”. It’s been awhile couple of weeks since I’ve done Faves and my daughter said I need to get back to it. Since Fridays can be challenging days, I’ve decided just sometime during the week. I like telling y’all my current favorite things so I’ll try to be a little more consistent. 1) Laura Geller New York Italian Sheer Lipstick-Al Fresco  I love this lipstick. It’s the perfect color and the perfect consistency. Beautiful! 2) Hidden Pictures by Jason Rekulak  My son recommended this book to me, and I enjoyed it! I listened to this book, but I do think it’s better to read it as it does have pictures in it that pertain to the story. A PDF came with the audiobook, so I could in fact see the pictures, but not always in real time. I thought it was a good read! 3) Jesus Listens and Jesus Calling for Christmas  I have really loved having these books this holiday season. I think I will pull them out every year going forward. The entr...

Friday Faves!

It’s the day after Thanksgiving. First Thanksgiving without any of my parents. I had to “big girl”. But you know what? It was a GOOD day. Lots of non-rushed good conversation. 1) Green Ottoman from Lowe’s  Everyone in my family mad fun of these when they arrived. They are used SO much by everyone who comes into our home. 2) The Bedroom Window by K.L. Slater  This was a really good book! 3) Takeaway boxes from Amazon I purchased these from Amazon for Thanksgiving last year. We had more left over, so I used them again this year. Big hit!  4) Blanket from Amazon  These blankets were bought for Andy’s “kicky squirmy” time. They are soft, and he LOVES to look at them!   Had a great weekend with my fun family and friends.

Friday Faves from Cabo

Image
Here’s what I’m loving this week while in Cabo (Hopefully this photo will show up when I get back home, or at least to you…all I see is a white box) 1) Insomnia by Sarah Pinborough  I enjoyed this book, but not as much as her book Behind Her Eyes. The twist in Behind Her Eyes was so shocking, and I guess I put unfair expectations on this book to do the same.  2) Pure Wonder by Bath & Body Works  My friend Cheryl came into my room the other day, and I was like: what are you wearing?? She smelled so good, that I immediately ordered some and it will be waiting for me when I get home. I hope I think it smells as good on me. 3) Biolage Scalp Sync Shampoo and Conditioner  My scalp has needed a little TLC lately (actually my whole body does, getting old sucks) so I decided to try this Biolage Scalp Sync while in Cabo. I really like it, and I LOVE the smell (I’m all about the smells these days) 4) JM’s Italian Steakhouse  This restaurant was fantastic! From t...

It’s Friday! Here’s what I am loving: 1) CJ  My favorite this week: my son-in-law CJ. He is a great husband, wonderful father, and now he can add superhero to his resume!! (Or at least “snake handler”) He came to my rescue on Halloween and got the snake out of my bedroom. He lost some points for not wanting to kill it, but at least he took it far away. Thank you, CJ!! 2) Blink by K.L. Slater  This was one of my favorite books so far this year. I did not see the twists coming. K.L. Slater is also becoming one of my go to authors.  3) We Used to Live Here by Daniel Hurst  Y’all know I love Daniel Hurst. His books are such easy listens and I thoroughly enjoy them. This one is no exception. 4) Velvet Pumpkins for Fall  I am not a fan of Fall decor, it’s just not my thing. Love Halloween decor, love Christmas decor, just not so much Fall decor. I found these velvet pumpkins on Amazon a couple of years ago and set them all around and I just love them! I was act...

Here’s what I’m loving this week: 1) Apple Car Play  I love Apple Car Play!! I have only had it since mid-August, but I love it! It actually makes me want to drive more. If you know me, you know that’s quite an endorsement! 2) Listen for the Lie by Amy Tintera  This was a pretty good book. At first I wasn’t sure, but I ended up enjoying it. 3) The Perfect Couple on Netflix  I didn’t realize this series was based on a book by Elin Hildebrand until I Googled a photo for this blog post today. I liked this series, even though a lot of people I know didn’t love it, especially the way it ended. It may cause me to actually check out some of EH’s books now. Not sure I will, but maybe. 4) Merit Flush Balm in Beverly Hills  I love this blush! The description of this color is “soft peach” but it looks more pinky on me. I’m thinking of trying some other colors. Hope you have a great weekend! I’m off to my 40th (cough, cough) High School Reunion tomorrow.

Friday Faves from the Vonlane

  1) Dog Collars from JazzyJDesigns  These are the girls’ new fall dog collars. I buy all of their collars from JazzyJDesigns on Etsy. She’s the BEST! They have college football collars, Texas Rangers collars, Christmas collars, etc. etc.  2) Husband and Wife by K.L. Slater  I believe this is only on Audible, but it was really, really good!!  3) Screen Protector for iPad  I love this screen protector. It’s like paper kind of, and it doesn’t show fingerprints (which make me crazy)!!! 4) Two Piece set from Amazon  This set is so cute on! And comfy. Love it! Off to Galveston for a wedding! Hope you enjoy your weekend.

Here is what I’m loving this week: 1) International Delight Cold Foam Cream  So far my favorite is the Caramel Macchiato. I love it! 2) Betta SE Solar Powered Automatic Robotic Pool Skimmer  My friend Cheryl told me about this and it is wonderful! I love that it’s solar powered, one less thing that can break, and it just does its own thing in the pool. It’s like a Roomba for the pool. Highly recommend! Thank you Cheryl! 3) Apple Magic Keyboard  I love using a keyboard with my iPad, and I’ve tried so many of them, including some Magic Keyboard knock offs. I finally bit the bullet and got the real thing. It is legit! Worth every penny! It’s perfect. I had been wanting to start loving my laptop again, but this fills that desire. Bye bye, laptop!  4) The Honeymoon by Shalini Boland  This book was really good! Suspenseful with some good twists! Have a great weekend! The last weekend before my baby boy gets married!

Friday Faves (Celebration of Life edition)

Image
Today is my most special day of Faves ever. It was a day like no other. Today we celebrated my stepfather’s life well lived. We also celebrated new life today, my grandson. It was such a day of mixed emotions, and it was a Blessing. I loved Roy Boy so much! He brought so much joy and happiness to everyone who knew him. And he was funny! So very funny! He raised me, and taught me so much.  And today begins a journey with Andy, my first grandchild. I hope to bring him joy and happiness, and he’ll learn very soon that I, too, am funny! So very funny! 🤪 I hope to teach him many things. Roy, I hope I learned all the things from you! Today was a day of celebration. A circle of life moment.

Friday Faves on Saturday morning.  1) Suri Electric Toothbrush  I just got this new electric toothbrush, and I’m really liking it! A bonus, I guess, is that the brush heads are sustainable. They send you a prepaid envelope to send back the brushes which are plant based?? I don’t know 🤷‍♀️ but I like the toothbrush! 2) Gameday Top  Got me a new Gameday top, and I’ll debut it later today. College Football Season is HERE!! 3) Garmin Venu 3 Watch  Got this for my anniversary, and I’m liking it! I was tired of the Apple Watch because I don’t love the way it looks on me. The only thing is that is that I feel stressed out because it keeps telling me I am not sleeping well, so then I sleep worse because I’m stressed! 😅 4) Swipewipe App  My daughter’s friend told me about this app. I have WAY too many photos on my devices to count and this app helps me delete a ton! I’ve committed to daily purging of the “on this day” photos. Every morning it shows me ALL of the...

Friday Faves are BACK!

Image
It’s been a minute since I’ve done Friday Faves. My collage is a little rough, but I’m back and in town for awhile!   1) Waffle Knit Jumpsuit  This comfy jumpsuit came from Amazon and has been a lifesaver this summer. I had already planned it as a Fave before the unplanned twinning at dinner with my daughter last night. Hers is a little different (and has room for a large baby bump) but we laughed so hard that we matched exactly! 2) Bad Monkey on Apple TV  I had seen this advertised on Apple TV. Since we are back in town and currently between shows we decided to give it a try. WE LOVE IT!! Unfortunately for impatient people, not all episodes have dropped yet. We’ve seen the first 3, and now we are on a weekly basis.  3) Weighted Fitness Vest  I got this for Walt. His buddy has an actual backpack that he wears when walking (40lbs), and it is $$$$. I had seen these several places online and it is less $$. This one is 30lbs. He is loving it so far! If he really lov...

Well, today is Friday, and I’m actually posting my Faves on time! 1) Carolina Herrera Good Girl Perfume  While on my flight home from Iceland, one of the Icelandic flight attendants smelled so good. She told me she was wearing the “very high heel shoe” perfume. While I think it smelled a little better on her than me, I like it a lot!   2) Nail Tek Strengthener  So, I’ve had to stop wearing “dip powder” nails for a bit. Two of my nails were pretty damaged (one from trauma). My nails were, of course, pretty weak from years of having them done and this nail strengthener is helping a ton! My two damaged nails are making progress and healing. I’m also giving my toes a “polish break”. Starting to embrace this natural life! Ha! I still get a little jealous when I see all these fabulous nails around me, but it’s not so bad.  3) The Personal Assistant by Kimberly Belle  I enjoyed this book! I partially figured out the twist, but not all of it. It kept my interest ...

Friday (Saturday) Faves

So, my Faves are a day late this week, but I we are back home for now! 1) Meriwether Coffee Mug  If it requires pants or a bra it isn’t happening today. We got home Thursday night, had been sick for several days, and needed a catch up day yesterday. No other coffee mug would do. I love Meriwether. Their slogan is something like “Disappointing parents for years”.   2) First Tee Golf Book  I have had to get off of social media during the day because they keep enticing me with precious baby gifts. I got this for Pops to give to Andy and it is adorable! They will both love it! 3) Single by K.L. Slater  Apparently it’s only on Audible, but I enjoyed this book. Interesting plot, and I like Slater’s writing style. 4) Flora Perfume by Gucci  I purchased this on the cruise and I love it! My only complaint is its staying power. I wished it stayed on longer because it’s so good. Have a great weekend!

Gonna be quick this week while I have wifi. 1) Nine Lives by Peter Swanson  This book was good! Very interesting plot! 2) Dry Brush for Exfoliation  I have gotten a couple of massages on this trip and they use dry brushing beforehand. I purchased one of the for back home. Love it! 3) Westman Atelier Baby Cheeks  I found a new color that lights up the face. It’s called Coquette. I’m obsessed with these as you know. 4) Dolce Vita Notice Sneakers  I brought these on the trip and they are super comfortable and super cute! That’s it for this week!

Quick Faves from the sea! 1) WHBM Maxi Dress  This dress came in right before the cruise, and it is perfection! It looks about three times better in person than the photo. Someone stopped me at dinner to compliment it. Definitely a keeper! 2) Tatcha Rice Facial Wash  I’ve been enjoying this face wash on my quest to find something to replace my, now discontinued, Beautycounter products. I’m not sure it’s “the one” but I’m enjoying it so far. 3) FIGS NB 327 Sneakers  Funny story. My friend was wearing NB sneakers like these in Napa. They were so cute and comfy. When I got home, I searched for them online, and for some reason they showed up on the FIGS website. FIGS is a store for scrubs and uniforms for medical personnel. I bought them and love them! I’m not sure why the New Balance website didn’t pop up. But now that I have these, I love them and have them in another color too. They’ve been perfect for this trip! 4) Rhoback 1/4 Zip  I got this for Walt for his ...

In spite of the destructive storms this week, I still have some Faves to share. 1) Top Golf Courses of the USA Map  If you know my husband at all, then you know how much he loves golf and travel. So, what could be better than traveling for golf? I thought this would be so much fun for him to try and play as many of these courses as possible and put a pushpin in the map. He’s played a few of them already, and is looking forward to documenting them. 2) The Doctor’s Child  This is the 4th (and I think final) book in Daniel Hurst’s “Doctor” series. I enjoyed the whole series, and really felt like I knew all of the characters. I also felt closure, for the most part, at the end of this book.  3) Airmoto Air Pump  Instagram got me again with this one. Bought it, and didn’t use it for awhile, but we needed to air up bike tires recently and this thing is so cool! It’s rechargeable and digital. It tells you when you’ve achieved the right amount of air. Love it! 4) The F...

Happy Friday morning! Let’s get right into the Faves, although, how did y’all feel about the Survivor finale? 1) Kelsi Dagger Dover Platform Sandals  IG sucked me in again. These popped up and I was in a trance as I hit the “place order” button. I love them so much!!  2) Victor’s Wood Grill  Located in Coppell, it was a weekly staple when we lived there. It’s not too far away from us now, but we definitely don’t get over there as often as we’d like. This week was a blessing as we got to go twice! We went on Monday with our son Hudson, he thinks they make the best grilled chicken of anyone, and last night with our Grow Group Supper Club. My go to every time is Grilled Naked Salmon with a side of Sautéed Spinach. I love it! If I’m in the mood to share, Walt and I will split the Pork Milanese. It’s super yummy as well.  3) The Frozen River by Ariel Lawhon  I gotta admit, I was dreading reading this, but my stepfather’s wife, Betsy, recommended it and specifi...

It’s time for Friday Faves! 1) Survivor  I used to watch Survivor back in the 1900s (ha, ha, that sounds so funny), but haven’t watched in years. My daughter and son in law were watching it this season and suggested we all watch together. I’m hooked! Next week is the season finale, but I love that we have been watching together and talk about it afterwards. Will definitely watch again with them next season! 2) R+F Lash Boot  I have used this for years. It ain’t cheap, and now there are so many brands of lash serums, I thought I’d try some cheaper options. I don’t know if Katie Kim ever reads this, but if she does I want her to know: this stuff is worth the $$$. I didn’t see any positive growth with the two cheaper brands I tried, as a matter of fact, my lashes seemed to revert back to their former state. When I started back on Lash Boost, I could see an improvement again.  3) Bare Minerals Lipstick  I like the consistency of Bare Minerals lipstick. It seems to stay o...

Friday Faves (on Thursday)

Image
Posting this week’s Faves a day early as I will be out of town celebrating my future daughter-in-law at her Bridal Shower in Houston. 1) Stouffer’s Family Size Lasagna  I know this is an odd Fave for me, but recently we hosted our Bible Study here, and I had forgotten we were hosting, so I bought and served these in a pinch with a salad and garlic bread. Several people went back for seconds, they were SO good!  2) She’s Not Sorry by Mary Kubica  I just finished this book, Mary Kubica’s latest, and I’m on the fence. On one hand, the plot was super interesting, and the twists were surprising, but I did not like how the main character talked and talked and talked, rationalizing her decisions and actions. Would I recommend? Probably. I’m starting to wonder if I’m just not a fan of Mary Kubica’s character developments. I feel like I had issues with the last book I read of hers years ago. 3) Thrive Cosmetics Brilliant Eye Brighteners  I love these eye shadow pencils...

It’s been a minute since I’ve done my Faves (sorry Vicki and Betsy), but I’m home and back at it! 1) BONTEC Mobile TV Cart  I may have shared this before, but it’s a Fave that just keeps on giving. We got home late Sunday night from a trip, and all I wanted to do was climb into bed and watch TV. Our bedroom Roku had stopped working, so I rolled in our 2nd “football watching” TV on this handy dandy mobile TV cart and was able to relax and chill to some mindless TV. This TV stand has been used so much since we purchased it. Note: I keep the TV on it all the time. 2) Benefit Cosmetics They’re Real! Lengthening Mascara  Thank you to my future daughter in law, Corinne, for recommending this! I was having trouble with my mascara smearing on my upper lids and she said she had been using this for years and loved it. My mascara smearing problem is solved! And my lashes actually can be seen!  3) Elemis Superfood Midnight Facial  This showed up in my FabFitFun box and wh...

Good Friday Faves

Image
Friday Faves on this Good Friday. Honorable mention, or possibly the best Fave this week, is a song by Zach Williams called Sunday’s Comin’ . I love this song! I once heard a sermon about how Saturday, between Good Friday and Easter Sunday is that time when you’re in despair, hardship and mourning, and you don’t have any idea how long it will last, but Sunday’s coming and it will be glorious! That sermon has stuck with me for several years. So powerful. Now, for the rest of my Friday Faves for the week: 1) The Neighbours by Daniel Hurst  Y’all know he’s quickly becoming one of my favorite authors because his books are easy and his plots are unique! This one was no different. I enjoyed this book and I did kind of figure out the twists, but still so good. 2) Felony iPhone Case  This pink puffer case is so fun. I get a lot of compliments on it. Thanks IG 🤪 for the suggestion! 3) Nutrafol  I struggled including this one because who wants to talk about hair loss/thinni...

Here are some fun Faves for your Friday: 1) New Doormat for C.C. and Pops  Yes, we are going to be grandparents. My daughter is pregnant with a baby boy. She and her husband bought this doormat for Walt and me. She was devastated when it didn’t make the Faves last week, and we don’t want her to be devastated 😂 It is very cute and they are very sweet for giving this to us. Exciting times ahead. 2) Westman Atelier Baby Cheeks  My future daughter in law told me this was the hot gift in her girls’ gift exchange this Christmas. It was stolen from her. So I decided if it’s trending with the cute young girls, maybe I should try it. I like it (but still need to practice a little). I got her one for her birthday. She likes the color Petal, my favorite is the color Mimi. Thanks Corinne for keeping me hip! 3) My First Golf Bag by Mud Pie  We purchased this for our grandson because how could we not? It’s so cute!  4) Apples Never Fall on Peacock  I really enjoyed th...

Happy Friday! I’m looking forward to a low key weekend. Here are my Faves for this week: 1) Farmer Wants a Wife  Y’all, I know, this seems like a questionable Fave, but I’m kind of obsessed. When we were in Vegas, two of the farmers were sitting next to us in the hotel bar. I recognized them from the commercials on TV. We ended up chatting with the younger one. He described the show as “more wholesome than the Bachelor” (He wasn’t kidding. Dorky is the word that comes to mind…) I asked him if he found a wife and he said: You’ll have to watch and see! So, I decided to watch. I’m a little worried about him because two of his women left last episode. 😅 It’s addicting. The episodes are short and sweet (wholesomely so). 2) Spanx AirEssentials  I am new to the Spanx clothing game. Someone online suggested these for travel. Since I have several trips coming up I decided to try them. They are SO soft and comfortable! I threw them on one day when I wasn’t feeling great and they...

Good morning! How about some Friday Faves? One of my potential resolutions for 2024 was not purchasing things from IG. I’m glad I didn’t listen to myself, two of my Faves this week were IG purchases! 🤪 Moderation is the key. 1) Vessi Weekend Shoes  I am going on 3 fairly big trips in the next few months. These shoes popped up on IG, and claimed to be comfortable, supportive, breathable, lightweight, waterproof and perfect for traveling. They said all the right things, so of course I had to buy them. I’ve worn them twice to make sure they were broken in for traveling, and I really like them. I think they could be a little dorky, but dorky sneaks (retro) seem to be in right now. They actually look pretty cute with jeans and with leggings.  2) Innatus Aromatherapy Shower Steamer  I was cleaning out my closet recently and found this. I had no idea I had it or where it came from (don’t judge). I’m pretty sure it came from an old FabFitFun box. I decided, since I own it, why n...

Friday “Flu” Faves

Image
So here are my Faves for the week, and they seem to be a “Recovering from the flu” theme. 1) Masters Of The Air on Apple TV  Walt and I started watching it before I got sick, and he is loving it! It’s a great show, and tonight we will stay in and watch the two latest episodes.  2) Tazo Passion Tea  This stuff is delicious. I have been drinking it non stop lately. 3) Advil Sinus Congestion & Pain  I woke up Sunday morning feeling like I was hit by a truck and a cheese grater had been run across my throat. It’s not Covid (I’ve still never had Covid—yes, Anna, I know probably everyone has had it, but as long as I’ve never had a positive test, I’ve never had it. And, I rarely get sick.) Although not formally diagnosed, I am pretty certain I have the flu. This stuff has helped tremendously with my headache and congestion! 4) Thermalon Microwave Activated Moist Heat-Cold Sinus Mask  I have been cleaning out my closet and I found this in there (I looked it u...

I was prepared for my Faves this week, thus the early (for me) post! 1) Home Town  This is my favorite HGTV show. I love their commitment to restoring their home town of Laurel, Mississippi. As I told my son Harrison, everyone should have someone who looks at them the way Erin looks at her husband Ben. And, while their style isn’t necessarily my style all of the time, I like what they do and why they do it. It’s just so sweet. I kind of want to visit their town. 2) Misread Song Lyric Cups  I found these on a website called Meriwether and they are so funny and so true! They have a lot of different songs. I gave one as a gift and the guy just didn’t “get it”. I was disappointed, so I kept the rest. I brought them out last week at Bible Study and they were a big hit! I knew I loved them (both the cups and my Bible Study)! 3) Amour Sweater  I got this lightweight sweater online from a shop called Avara. It’s located in Dallas, I’ve just never been in the physical store...

Friday Faves

Good morning! Hard to believe this is the LAST Friday of January 2024. I know some people have commented that January seems to have lasted forever, but man, time flies! 1) The Day After the Party by Nicole Trope  I finished this book last week, and thought it was really good. The character development was deep. There was only one character I didn’t really think fit, but overall I liked the book a lot! Since I always listen to my books, I do wonder how they translate to people when they read them. 2) Lancôme L’Absolu Rouge Hydrating Cream Lipstick  I love this lipstick! Love the formula (hate that it’s in French so I always have to look up how to spell it) and the color. I currently have Mademoiselle Amanda, but am about to try Peut Etre. Love this lipstick! 3) VOYOR Electric Body Brush/Back Scrubber  In 2024, I’m trying something new each month. In January I decided to try this back scrubber. I realized I hadn’t really ever focused on washing my back with anything ...

I missed last week because I was in Napa, but I’m back and going to try and be more consistent. 1) New Front Door by Freedom Iron Doors  I love my front door! It was quite the process. From me designing it to installation was about 6 months. Worth the wait!!  2) Motivational Water Bottle  I am always looking for ways to drink more water, and this water bottle is a game changer! When I follow the  time schedule, drinking my 64 oz is fairly easy. So I try hard to follow the schedule. I love it! 3) Fool Me Once on Netflix   I realize I’m late to the party on this one, but I really enjoyed it! (I even liked the ending which puts me in the minority from those I’ve talked to about it) I actually read the book back in 2016/2017 but didn’t remember it at all.  4) Daniel Hurst, Author  I discovered this author in 2023 and I am a fan! He is an English author and his books are fairly short, not necessarily deep, but very entertaining! He comes up with some...

Friday Faves 2024

Image
Happy 1st Friday of 2024! I took some time off, it was a busy few months, but I am back! 1) Peeps Eye Glass Cleaner   I got sucked into another IG ad, but I love this little gizmo! You take it out of the holder and one cleaning pad goes on either side of your lens and the next thing you know, your glasses are spotless! I keep this in several locations around the house and use it daily! 2) Bodum Electric Milk Frother  My son Harrison gave this to me for Christmas. In years past he has said to me, “This is the coolest gift I never knew I wanted!” Apparently he got the good gift giving gene from me, because I LOVE this little frother and never knew I wanted it! I have used it everyday since Christmas. It’s a game changer! 3) Cracklist Game  My friend Mona saw this game on TikTok (of course) and brought it to New Year’s Eve. We probably had too many people to play that night, but it was still fun once we got the hang of it. She gave it to me to bring home because she s...
