Why Didn't I Think of That?!

I love unique innovative things.  I love books.  I think I'm a pretty creative person.  Having said that, I'm not sure if I have it in me to think of ideas this cool.

The 52-lists Project is a combo book/journal.  Every week you are given a list prompt.  For example, Week 1: List your hopes and dreams for the year (basically your resolutions) and Week 2: Name your favorite book and movie characters.  After you've had some time to compile the lists, the author gives you a "Take Action".  This is where it gets interesting to me. I chose as my favorite characters (they were all from movies, none from books):

Meryl Streep, It's Complicated
Olympia Dukakis, Steel Magnolias
Kate Winslet, The Holiday
Tea Leoni, The Family Man
Nicholas Cage, The Rock
Buddy, Elf
Billy Crystal, When Harry Met Sally
Billy Crystal, City Slickers

I can never actually remember the characters' names, but they are my favorites nonetheless!  So, the take action for this list is as follows:

It's pretty obvious to me that the personality trait common to all of these characters is that they are funny.  I love funny people.  I actually think that I am a funny person, so it certainly won't take a lot of extra effort to work towards this character trait this week. I just found it interesting that all of my favorite characters tended to be funny. It ended up being an enlightening exercise and seeing the results of my friends doing this list prompt challenge is enlightening as well!  I can't wait to see where this year of lists takes us!

The Best Advice in Six Words is REALLY what I wish I would have thought of.  Have you heard of this?  The backstory is SO interesting, you'll have to read about it on your own if you choose.  This book is a compilation of "advice" from famous people and regular Joe's, but each contains exactly six words.  It's brilliant!  And weird.  And weirdly addicting.

While it's impossible to have a favorite, this one really resonated with me: Your greatest weapon is your wit! This guy has made a career out of six words!  He has several books, all with "six word memoirs".  It's crazy! And cool!  I'm still working on what my six word advice would be.  What would you choose?

And finally, there's Humans of New York.  I mean, what a great idea!

I think my favorite part of HONY is "Today in microfashion..."

Are you a fan of Humans of New York?  I realize some of the stories would be hard, really hard, to hear, but how cool would it be to interview people in New York and ask if you could take their photo!

Do you love books like this?  Do you, like me, wish you would have thought of something this innovative and creative to make a career out of? Have you thought of your six word advice?  I'd love to hear it!
